About the website

Digital Slot Car Racing uses digital signals to control the primary functions of slot cars such as throttle. brakes and the ability to change lanes. This enables multiple cars (for example six or more) to operate on tracks with as few as two lanes. The cars share lanes, switching lanes to overtake or to follow the fastest racing line. The digital signals pass from controller to car either via data packets encoded onto the track power rails or by direct radio signals usually at 2.4GHz.

The leading brands which use track signals are Scalextric and Carrera while the main brands using wireless are Slot.it (oXigen), SCX and Scorpius Wireless.

I am a user of four of these systems, though for the present this website will focus on the Scalextric system know as Scalextric Sport Digital (SSD). This builds on a large international user base so a good place to start.

The website will adopt a 'blog' core format where progress updates are provided against defined core objective/s. The intention is to keep the blogs focused on enhancements to the racing experience and hopefully will be an enjoyable read. Then hyperlinks will enable readers, if they wish, to delve in more detail into the technical details of how the system enhancements are engineered.

I appreciate the technical details will not be for everyone, but I hope that everyone who is interested in digital slot car racing with enjoy some aspects of this website as it evolves over coming months and years.
